Get ready to turn the thermostat down, Delena fans, because your temperature is about to skyrocket. In her teaser-filled interview withZap2It, Vampire Diaries executive producer Julie Plec promised things are about to change between Elena (Nina Dobrev) and Damon (Ian Somerhalder).
"When we come back in Episode 10, Elena and Damon are finding themselves in these moments where the romantic tension is a little bit deeper and the physical tension is a little bit hotter," says Plec. Hotter than their post-workout grope session when Damon was supposedly teaching Elena how to stake vamps? It sounds like they’re taking their decision to let go of Stefan (Paul Wesley) seriously. "They have to worktogether against Klaus, so they keep finding themselves in these moments that they're now both free to act on, without guilt." Well, not entirely. Damon’s still a little messed up because Stefan is M.I.A. “He's day-drinking,” Plec says. Single Elena and drunk Damon? It sounds like it’s time for another bubble bath scene.
But because this is TVD, the situation won’t last long. “Eventually, somebody is going to [find] out that Stefan saved Damon's life, and Damon and Elena are going to have that to contend with,” explains Plec. But even though he’s free of Klaus’ compulsion, Plec says Stefan isn’t back to his pre-Ripper self: “We also have not seen the worst of Stefan taking on Klaus.” In fact, Klaus is going to use some underhand tactics to turn people against the younger Salvatore. When Damon catches Klaus in conversation with Mayor Lockwood, she tells him, “Klaus has offered to leave me, my family, and this town alone if you can get your brother to behave,” according to Plec. Damon might be too busy being his brother’s keeper to put the moves the Elena…
