Actors Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder have been among the gossip rumor mill lately for Nina's birthday, their dating, and speculation they may be married. However, their TV roles on "Vampire Diaries" have the two lovebirds among the People's Choice Awards 2012 nominees. How are their chances to become winners at the upcoming award show?
The 38th People's Choice Awards will take place on Wednesday, January 11th starting at 9PM EST. CBS will air the show with Kaley Cuoco handling the hosting duties. There will be awards handed out for various nominees in music, movies, and television, including Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder from the hit TV show, "The Vampire Diaries."
The strongest competition for Ian Somerhalder and his show will be Hugh Laurie and "House." Laurie bested Somerhalder last year in the category for Favorite TV Drama Actor, while "House" took out "Vampire Diaries" in Favorite Network TV Drama. Both these actors and shows make their return for the 2012 PCAs, although "VD" may have surged more in popularity over the past year. Other competition for Somerhalder comes from Nathan Fillion of "Castle," Patrick Dempsey of "Grey's Anatomy," and David Boreanaz of "Bones."
Meanwhile, Somerhalder's rumored wife, or at least girlfriend, Nina Dobrev, is nominated in the Favorite TV Drama Actress for her first time. She'll be going head-to-head with a tough group including Blake Lively of "Gossip Girls," and three actress sharing first names starting with "E." They are Ellen Pompeo, Emily Deschanel, and Eva Longoria. Pompeo and Longoria are seasoned actresses from their shows "Grey's Anatomy" and "Desperate Housewives." Will Nina be able to defeat them for a big win in 2012?
Since the fans are the driving force in this year's People's Choice Awards, it should be expected that "Vampire Diaries," along with Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder, should win. They certainly have a "bloodthirsty" fan base similar to "Twilight," who can help the actors sink their teeth into their first big PCA wins!
