Nina Dobrev is such a sweetheart, so it's no wonder that Ian Somerholder is so in love with his costar on The Vampire Diaries.
Tons of people on the internet have enjoyed criticizing singer Lana Del Rey's recent SNLperformance, where she belted out "Blue Jeans" and "Video Games" in a shaky, croaky voice. Celebs like Eliza Dushku, Perez Hilton, and Juliette Lewis were among those that bashed her performance, but Nina has joined SNL host Daniel Radcliffe in defending Del Rey's disastrous appearance on the show.
Apparently Nina missed the musician's awkward performance, because this is what she firsttweeted about it: "What did Lana Del Rey do during her SNL performance that caused such a stir ..?" She then informed her followers that she was getting ready to make her own judgment by writing, "I'm a fan of her music...especially her new song 'born to die'. Going online to see her on SNL to find out what all the fuss is about."
Like most people, Nina Dobrev apparently wasn't all that impressed with Lana Del Rey's performance, but she did defend her by tweeting this: "If youve heard LDRs album you know shes talented, she just looked nervous to be on SNL and probably uncomfortable in that super long dress :S."
A long dress certainly seems like a silly excuse for singing badly, but it was nice of Nina to stand up for someone with everyone else trying to drag her down. However, Del Rey is the daughter of a millionaire, so if her singing career dies right now, there's no need for Nina to feel too sorry for her.
A bad SNL performance can be a real career killer - just look at what happened to Ashlee Simpson after everyone learned that she was lip synching her song. But since Nina Dobrev has so much love for Lana Del Rey, perhaps she can help her become an actress if her musical career doesn't pan out - surely she and boyfriend Ian Somerhalder have a little pull when it comes to casting decisions for The Vampire Diaries. Maybe they could get Lana cast as a werewolf - she'd be great at growling and howling at the moon.
So do you share Nina's sentiment about Lana's performance, or do you think her SNLperformance should spell the end of her career? Sound off in the comments!
